On Saturday morning (11/21/2009) a handful of intrepid ADDA'ers marched into the Auburn Food Bank to repack flour and sugar for the needy. What was supposed to be an easy morning turned into something quite different. The sugar and flour job went to a local Little League team. We ended up with the task of counting and sorting over 5,000 individual "units" (a unit being an individual can, jar, or package) of donated food.

Tim Ritchey, Joseph Ritchey (his son), Julie Axberg, Gabriel Sosienski, Sam Little, Ashley Shoemaker, and myself transformed a disordered and chaotic mess into the very picture of order. As drafters, we took satisfaction in the squared edges of the stacked crates, but as people we felt good at providing a means of feeding over 300 families.

Thanks again to all those who participated.

Welcome!

Welcome back to another quarterly race to the finish line! Hello, my name is Chris Flanagan-Linderman (you can just call me Chris) and I’m the ADDA reporter for this Fall Quarter at GRCC. First off I wanted to get you up to speed as to who is serving the greater GRCC ADDA collective this quarter.

Jeremy Tatum – President
Gabriel Sosienski – Vice President
Tim Ritchey – Secretary
Becca – Treasurer
Chris Flanagan-Linderman – Reporter

Please know that we are here to serve you in any way possible, including answering association/school/program specific questions. I can assure you that if we don’t have the answers or at least a silly one-liner to cover up our lack thereof, than we can direct you to someone who can!

This week’s upcoming chapter meeting will focus on electing committee chairpersons for the following activities: HPPV (Human Powered Paper Vehicle), Association Luncheon (catered or potluck), Guest Speaker headhunter, ASE (There is no committee chairperson position needed, just some committed volunteers!), Giving From the Heart (We have found more money in our accounts which makes this a viable and feel-good activity for the club.) Please come prepared to volunteer for any and all of these worthy activities. We need everyone’s energy, enthusiasm and support. To date, the committee chairpersons that we do have are:

Justine Walker – Adopt-a-Road
Julie Axelberg – Field Trip
Chris Flanagan-Linderman - Food Bank (indicated as “Food Drive” on the sign-up sheet)

This is all I have to report at this time. Please check back in next week as I will have information posted detailing times and dates for many of these upcoming activities.

Keeping you in the loop at ADDA

As promised, I wanted to let everyone know what our lineup of speakers will be for the rest of the quarter.

May 14th: Areo Tech (Tentative)
May 21st: GRCC ADDA Constitution “revision” presentation.
May 28th: “EV-101” What is an Electric Vehicle and why should I care?
June 4th: ADDA Luncheon – Emily DeSalva with WorkSource

Please make plans to attend each of these presentations. You’ll be glad you did!

Also, please note that there is a change of date for our Adopt-a-road project.
It has been moved from May 16th to May 30th. So please adjust your calendar.

Our event signup sheets are posted on “ADDA Window of Opportunity” in the SMT building 3rd Floor Room 351.

ASE Testing is going well. We had over 100 people show up for testing on the 7th, for last night the 12th, we had a total of 76 people, and we are expecting a good crowd for our final night.
We have ONLY 7 people signed up for the luncheon and we will need more to make this another unforgettable event! So get your name on the signup sheet and make a difference!

For our field trip on June 10th, we only have space for 16 people and we have 12 signed up now. You know what that means. Four more people and you will have missed your opportunity to visit LMI Areospace in Auburn. This field trip is local and will be very informative.

Please contact Tim if you have any questions or corrections for this Blog.

Spring into Spring with ADDA (Spring 2009)

Spring Quarter has started and the ADDA Chapter at Green River Community College is off and running with a full agenda. In our first meeting we elected new officers and congratulated last quarter’s officers for a STELLAR job and for paving the way for the new leadership.

Who am I, you ask? My name is Tim Ritchey and I’ll be your reporter for the ADDA Chapter.
I'll be posting meeting minutes and important information that you'll want to know about.

Please feel free to look me up on campus (Typically in the SMT building Drafting Department).

I am your new liaison between the club and the media (i.e. this Blog, the School Paper, etc.)

So let's be proactive this quarter. We have a lot to do and a limited time to get it done!
Oh, and come back real soon for updates because I WILL keep you posted!
